Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

During a Foreign Affairs Committee hearing today where Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified, Chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee Connie Mack (FL-14) highlighted Hillary Clinton's support for Keystone XL before the Obama Administration caved to environmentalists' pressure.

During the hearing, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton confirmed that the State Department's Environmental Impact Statement approved the Nebraska route as having minimal environmental impact and that Canadian oil is important to the United States.

Mack stated: "Given the State Department's stated inability to process this pipeline permit, I introduced bipartisan legislation to utilize Congress' constitutional authority to regulate international commerce and approve the Keystone XL pipeline, and I assure you I will not stop until Canadian oil replaces our reliance on Venezuelan oil."

Mack's bill, H.R. 4000 the Energizing America through Employment Act, brings together the largest bipartisan coalition across both the House and the Senate calling for the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline. H.R. 4000 has 61 cosponsors.
